Pergola & Planters

Breathing life into a neglected garden corner

Turning old structures into garden beauty

The Pergola Project

This was my second woodworking project, inspired by a neglected corner of the garden. The area previously had a low, unattractive, and damaged fence that added little character to the space. I wanted to create something both practical and visually striking.

We designed a plan to replace the old fence with stylish, handcrafted planters and a pergola, giving structure to the garden while allowing for natural growth. The vision was that over time, climbing roses would weave themselves around the pergola, forming a soft, flowering canopy that blends seamlessly with the surroundings.

This project was about more than construction — it was about transforming an ordinary outdoor space into a personal sanctuary, combining aesthetics with functionality. It challenged me to think about design, proportion, and durability, setting the stage for the more complex projects that followed.
